Web Base Site #3 - The Possibilities Are Bunceeless

The Possibilities Are Bunceeless

The last two weeks I have been discussing sites that allow for endless possibilities when creating a lesson or presentation.  This week I would like to provide one last site that allows for this same idea.  This week's presentation site that I would like to discuss is Buncee.  Buncee is another creative area that students can use to express what they are learning in a creative way.  It is another way to have students learn about the specific topic, while also learning about researching and computer skills.  Just like in the last two weeks, Buncee is a great way to capture students' attention when doing a fun, but instructive activity.  This is a site that can be used by both students and teachers.

Let's get into how to use Buncee!  When starting to create a Buncee, there are two options you can choose from - a new project or a project with a premade template (which ranges from bookmarks to greeting cards, brochures to birthday cards; the possibilities are endless).  For the purposes of this blog, I am going to start with a new template.  When you open up the new presentation, you are shown three options - select a template, change background, and add your first item.  Since I just briefly talked about templates, I am going to discuss adding items, before I talk about the background.  When you click on add your first item, below is a list of all the possibilities you can choose from.  As you will see below, the options to add anything into the presentation is pretty much endless.

When you select the sticker options or the animation, the number of items they give you is amazing.  They have dozens of pictures, within a dozen of categories.  Not only can you just add their items, you can add your own pictures and even videos too.  When adding text, you can change the font, size, color, the alignment, and even the style (bold, underline, italicize).  If needed, your students can also add an audio click of them speaking instead of them typing the words out.  Once everything is typed out, students can duplicate the page or create a whole new slide.  Now let's talk about backgrounds!  If I counted correctly, which I think I did, there are 44 different categories to choose from with different styles in option.  After picking a background, you can add it to all the pages or just the one page.  If the picture is to bold, students can change the opacity of the picture.  Once the whole presentation is complete, students can preview it to make sure it is how they want it, and then finally share it to you, the teacher!  But wait, don't forget to tell your students to title the presentation before they do!!

Ok so we have an understanding of how to use Buncee, but how is it beneficial for me, the teacher?  Well, after logging in, teachers can give access to students through class codes.  Once logged in as a teacher, there are three tabs that you can view - projects, classes, and boards.  Projects lets you see all the things you created or ones that have been shared to you.  Under classes, you can see all your students and organize them by their teacher and grade level.  Boards let you create a new post, add a previous project, or add a link from another site and then share it to others who can comment on the board.  This is a new and different way for students to share their projects, without necessarily talking in front of a class.  By sharing projects, students can spend more time on looking what others wrote rather than only looking at it briefly.  This also lets students reference their peers work in the future.  Just like Voki and Book Creator, Buncee helps with academic needs, in that, the students can talk into the text boxes instead of tying and after completion, the presentation can read to the students who are viewing it.

What do you think?  Is Buncee something that you will try with your students?  Now that you have explored three different sites that can be used for a presentation, which one do you like best?  Which one did your students like best?  Will you stick to just using one or will you use all three?  Let me know down in the comments what you found useful and what you didn't like about Buncee.  Remember, if there is another site you want me to review that may be helpful to our fellow teachers, let me know in the comments!
